A year rich in sharing
The Léman Hope team has been working tirelessly with numerous partners to enable more and more young people in remission from cancer to participate in Segeltörns. Sporting challenges, cultural events, personal donations, charity dinners, or volunteering—there are many ways to support the cause! Here is a selection of our latest past activities.
At the beginning of September, more than 200 swimmers took to the water to make the journey from Chillon to Geneva. The aim of this sporting challenge, co-organized this year by Swim4hope and Léman hope, was to raise funds for children and young people suffering from cancer or in remission. It's an honor for Léman hope to be at the heart of this incredible event, which brings together the values of surpassing oneself, mutual aid and trust, for charity. A big thank you to the swimmers for their commitment, and to the companies who have involved their staff in this wonderful adventure.
Pushing one's limits, accepting discomfort, learning from and with others and gaining confidence... That's what the swimmers in the "24 heures de Natation" experienced on October 8 and 9. This year, the organizers decided to give added meaning to the popular challenge by "swimming for a cause". Over 1,200 swimmers gave their all for Léman hope at the 2022 event. CHF 3,426.26 were raised, for a total of the same figure in km! Well done to all the swimmers and thank you to Lausanne Aquatique for the trust you have placed in us.
In the same aquatic register, Realteam Sailing, whose sails carry the colors of Léman hope loud and clear, won the last Grand Prix of the 2022 TF35 season. Through their exploits, the sailing team is spreading the project's touching message beyond our borders.
After the aquatic challenges, the Lausanne Marathon did us the honor of choosing Léman hope as its official charity. Our volunteer committee distributed 9,000 medals and 5,000 stickers on behalf of children in remission from cancer. This is wonderful visibility for Léman hope and we are very grateful. "You did it for Léman hope!
Another active contribution: on the occasion of its 62nd luncheon, the Ladies Lunch committee of Lausanne did us the immense honor of supporting Léman hope. The testimonial of Emma, 15 years old and a sailor in our last edition, was an emotional moment. A gathering of ladies deeply moved by Léman hope's cause, who raised CHF 48,000 for the survivors.
CHF 3,500 is also the magnificent sum raised by the Rotary Club Vevey-Montreux-Riviera to support Léman Hope! After a touching meeting with club members in July, a wonderful initiative was launched at the traditional St. Martin's Fair, where the club sold bowls of soup to contribute to Segeltörns hope's Segeltörns . A huge thank you to this organization for your dedication and support. This is just the beginning of a wonderful relationship. ❤️
The year 2022 ended on a high note. On December 13, during the magnificent charity event "The Greatest for Léman hope" at the Olympic Museum, 39 portraits from artist David Jamin's collection were auctioned off to benefit Léman hope. In addition to tremendous visibility for Léman hope during the exhibition, the project's initiators will donate 100% of the proceeds from the sale to support Segeltörns. A huge thank you to Rémi and Alexandra Duchemin, who gave us an extraordinary adventure by allowing us to convey messages of hope ❤️ For the first time, a young beneficiary, Olivia, spoke with her mother to publicly share her experience and all the positive impact that Segeltörns hope Segeltörns has had on her.
Whether you are an organizer, runner, swimmer, volunteer, or supporter, thank you for spreading the message of hope from Léman Hope in your own way. Thanks to you, more and more young people in remission from cancer will be able to join the Segeltörns , 4-night Segeltörns on Lake Geneva to regain their confidence by enjoying an incredible experience!
Léman Hope wishes you a wonderful 2023 and continues to pursue its goal: to support more and more young people in remission from cancer so that they can once again live life to the fullest!
