Nearly 50 young people aboard 11 sailboats set sail for the 3rd edition on Saturday

Following two deeply moving editions, the Léman Hope project will welcome 48 young people in remission from cancer aboard its boats starting this Saturday, departing from the ports of Ouchy and Pully*. This year, no fewer than 11 boats spread across two Sailing Trips —from July 9 to 13 and from July 16 to 20, respectively—will set sail across Lake Geneva, and for the veryfirst time, around fifteen Swiss-German children will join the adventure.

The Léman Hope family continues to grow and has doubled its capacity compared to last year. This is exciting news for young people in remission from cancer who want to look to the future with optimism by participating in a Sailing Trip 4-day, 4-night Sailing Trip aboard sailboats on Lake Geneva. Fun and enriching, this adventure offers them the opportunity to gain confidence outside the family setting by learning to sail.

A highlight of this year’s event is that the Sailing Trips 15 young people from German-speaking Switzerland who are in remission from cancer. For this occasion, the organizers have assembled a team of fully bilingual instructors and skippers.

"We're delighted to welcome young people from all over Switzerland this year, even though the whole Léman hope team will be speaking the same language: that of sharing and a taste for adventure," says Esteban Garcia, initiator of the project in Switzerland and founder of the Léman hope Foundation. Léman hope's long-term goal is to involve all young Swiss people in remission from cancer in this incredible adventure, while creating an environment conducive to rediscovering their tried-and-tested confidence.

Please note that on Sunday, July 10, singer Fanny Leeb will once again grace the Sailing Trips with her presence Sailing Trips a musical performance dedicated to the children. Having herself gone through the painful ordeal of cancer, she will surely touch the hearts of every young sailor with her messages of hope and shared experiences.

*Due to the Tour de France passing through the usual Léman hope departure point, the meeting point will exceptionally be at the Pully nautical centre.
