Nearly 50 young people aboard 11 sailboats set sail for the 3rd edition on Saturday

After two poignant editions, the Léman Hope project will take 48 young people in remission from cancer on board starting Saturday from the ports of Ouchy and Pully*. This year, no fewer than 11 boats spread over two Segeltörns —from July 9 to 13 and July 16 to 20, respectively—will sail on Lake Geneva and, for the veryfirst time, around fifteen Swiss-German children will be joining the adventure.

The Léman hope family continues to grow, doubling its capacity from last year. This is great news for young people in remission from cancer, who can look to the future with optimism by taking part in a unique 4-day, 4-night sailing cruise on Lake Geneva. Fun and enriching, this adventure represents an opportunity for them to assert themselves outside the family environment by learning about sailing.

A highlight of this new edition is that Segeltörns 15 young German-speaking people in remission from cancer. For this occasion, the organizers have called on a team of fully bilingual instructors and skippers.

"We're delighted to welcome young people from all over Switzerland this year, even though the whole Léman hope team will be speaking the same language: that of sharing and a taste for adventure," says Esteban Garcia, initiator of the project in Switzerland and founder of the Léman hope Foundation. Léman hope's long-term goal is to involve all young Swiss people in remission from cancer in this incredible adventure, while creating an environment conducive to rediscovering their tried-and-tested confidence.

It should be noted that on Sunday, July 10, singer Fanny Leeb will once again honor Segeltörns with her presence Segeltörns a musical performance dedicated to children. Having herself gone through the painful ordeal of cancer, she will touch each of the young sailors with her messages of hope and shared experience.

*Due to the Tour de France passing through the usual Léman hope departure point, the meeting point will exceptionally be at the Pully nautical centre.
